The story of Vivian

On Saturday, I went to visit my mother. I took Vivian with me. She had a ball playing with the dogs. She and Lily went for a stroll in the pond. Talk about stinky dogs.

On Sunday, we went to the Kentucky Humane Society to adopt Viv. She got her cast off. They put in the Microchip and then brought her back to me. Then they relized they hadn't given her a rabies vac. So they gave it to her in the waiting room while she was in my arms. Viv doesn't like shots and she is not afraid to tell you about it (loudly).

Then they relized she hadn't been spayed yet. So guess what they won't let you adopt a dog until he/she has been fixed. So another trip to Steedly Drive. When you might ask...I don't know yet the vet hasn't called me back yet to schedule the surgery.

On Sunday night we are home Viv is being a little careful of her leg. She decides to full out run up the deck stairs to my boyfriend and me. Well, she tripped. It apparently hurt. She didn't bark or whine. She just kept her ears down and wanted to be left alone. So Monday morning I started to try and reach someone at the Humane Society because I think her leg is really hurt. I finally get someone on the phone after 2 hours of trying. They tell me she is mostlikely fine just being careful with it since it just came out of the cast. Ok fine I'll by that. Cause now she is running and playing like a normal dog.

So maybe this week maybe next I will be able to adopt my baby girl. Keep your fingers crossed!

message to all girls...

This year I moved in with my boyfriend. We have had our ups and downs getting used to each others schedules and habits. There have been more and better ups than downs.

But here is a down that you all need to know about...

I went to the grocery store on Monday night. Bought lots of groceries and some beer for my boyfriend. One of the things I bought for myself was salad from the salad bar. I bought enough for two meals. I had part of it on Monday. On Tuesday I went out to my sisters so dinner out with her and her family. On Wednesday night I fixed my boyfriends dinner and then went to make my salad for dinner and went to the refrigerator looked and no salad... ok no big deal just ask the boyfriend when he wakes up where it went.

So I ask. "Do you know what happened to my salad?" The answer, "I threw it away. It looked old and I needed room to move the case of beer so I could open it."

Ok, there were about 10 other items in the fridge that were much older could have been tossed. But no, the one health meal in the fridge gets the trash treatment.

The moral of the story is this...if you have something in the fridge that you want and it is anywhere near the beer, MOVE IT or it will get the trash treatment too!

You said what?

So lately things have been going well for me. Really well. I knew it wouldn't last. Why would I expect it to last.

Work is great I love my job and the people I work with. Home was going so well. Just little bumps.

Well, yesterday (Sunday) the little bumps turned in to a hurdle. I love animals. I have almost always had a dog or a cat. I have been living since December 22, 2004 with out a pet. I really want a dog. My boyfriend keeps telling me no. So Sunday we were watching the replay of the U of L game and chatting about things and he told me he already knew what he was getting me for my birthday and for Christmas. I said a dog and he laughed and said no. I said an engagment ring, he laughed and said no. Ok now I am a little on edge. And being me I had to push things... I said so what are we doing about the holidays this year? He said we were probably going to his parents for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I said what about my family... He said you can go see your family. So my feelings are once again this year, I am not getting engaged nor do I count enough for him to spend time with me and my family during the holidays. So what happens next you guessed it I got mad and started to cry. When I am upset I clean.. Needless to say the house is pretty clean today. He did relent and say he would spend time with my family. But now he is barely talking to me.

I am tired and I don't want to fight anymore! I just need a little consideration!

Did someone say rocket science?

New Orleans little more than one month later Mayor Ray Nagin is opening the city. The Louisiana Health Department says it is not safe to come back yet. Illness can spread rampantly in this environment. The citizens wanting to return home to New Orleans only to be handed a letter saying, yes you may reenter, but, at your own risk. There is no 911 service, no hospital fully functional, bacteria, mold, no traffic lights, no stop signs, car accidents are on the rise, very little medical help if you need it.

I have been to New Orleans it is a great town! I want to see it rise again. Just not at the risk of American citizens.

Let the city get cleaned up, let them restore power and traffic lights, let them remove debris from the roadway, let them get all the water pumped out of the city once again, let them get the sewer system functional, let them get the water to a safe and drinkable level, in other words, lets stay away a little while longer and let as much work that can be done be done quickly as possible.

It will be easier and go much quicker if citizens are not in the way when polls are being replaced and roads are being cleaned or repaired.
